ADOPTION COMPATIBILITY
Puppies are sooo cute, and the fun part is that we each seem to have a different idea as to what cute is. The not-so-fun part is that we often choose our puppies based solely (or mostly) on what they look like, when so many other factors are important. Are you active? Do you want a running buddy? Or are you more of a movie and book type where you want your dog to sit by your side and just hang out? Whether a dog is happy doing those things depends a lot on their temperament. Just like people, dogs have preferences and differences in energy levels. So while there is nothing wrong with liking the look of one puppy over another, or preferring one gender over another, these are traits that are often best held “with an open hand.”
It is for this reason that we do temperament testing around 7 weeks of age. These evaluations will be provided for each family and you will be able to use them to help determine a good fit for you and your family. Hopefully they will coincide with your favorite look/gender … but if not, know that grooming styles can change a particular look a lot, and other than the difference in the way different genders pee, we have not noticed any significant differences between our males and females.
Below is our questionnaire/application that we would like you to fill out so that we can help in the selection process. While we are happy to advise, and will offer our opinions, the final selections will be made by each family according to the order in which deposits were made.
We do want to make sure that someone is home with the puppy for minimally the first four weeks. (Until the puppy is at least 6 months old is better.) This is a critical time in puppy development and it should not be left alone.
